One of the first things I had to figure out when I was building my business while raising little ones was: What can I do that fits into my crazy schedule?

The truth is, starting a business doesn’t mean you have to build some massive operation right out the gate. Instead, focus on something that you’re passionate about and can realistically work into your daily routine.

Maybe you’re a creative who loves graphic design, so you offer services on freelance sites like Fiverr. Maybe you’ve got a knack for writing, and you want to dive into blogging or copywriting. Or maybe you’re a mom who’s already teaching your kids valuable skills—why not turn that into an online course or resource for other moms?

The point is: start small and align your business with your interests and expertise. That way, it doesn’t feel like “work,” and it’s easier to stay motivated—even on those chaotic days.


Time Management Is Your Best Friend

Let’s be real: time is one of the biggest challenges when you’re trying to make money online while juggling motherhood. Between school drop-offs, meals, and laundry, it can feel like there’s no time to get anything done. But here’s the good news—time management isn’t about cramming more hours into your day; it’s about making the most of the hours you have.

For me, it meant being intentional about my time. I started blocking off specific work hours and setting clear boundaries with my family. The beauty of making money online as a mom is the flexibility it offers. Unlike traditional jobs, you don’t have to clock in at 9 AM and leave at 5 PM. But here’s the catch: flexibility means you need to be proactive and intentional about your schedule.

That means it’s okay to take breaks when your kids need you. Maybe you work in the morning when they’re still sleeping, or you take advantage of nap times and quiet moments to knock out tasks. But also—give yourself grace. Sometimes things won’t go according to plan, and that’s okay. Flexibility allows you to bounce back quickly when life throws a curveball.

The reality is, running a business as a mom requires constant adaptation. Sometimes you’ll work while your kids are entertained, and other times, your business will have to take a backseat for a few hours. That’s the beauty of being your own boss: you get to set the rules.

One of the quickest ways I learned to keep my sanity was by delegating and automating tasks. The idea of doing everything myself was not only exhausting but counterproductive.

As a mompreneur, it’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and forget about yourself. But here’s the truth: you can’t pour from an empty cup. If you’re not taking care of your mental, emotional, and physical well-being, you won’t be able to show up for your business or your family.
